Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and television actor who was famous for her portrayal as the fiery lawyer Teri Joseph on the Showtime show Soul Food. The actress is known under her maiden name of Nikki Kodjoe. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an interest in acting from when she was a child and won the Best Actress award at the Maryland high school competition. After working in theater as well as 'The Washington Ballet Company' she earned a degree in acting from 'New York University. Her first major role in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love brought the most admiration. This was later followed by movies like "Boogie Nights Spark, Blue Streak". The TV series Soul Food' was immensely well-received. In addition, she was a part of TV shows like Second Time Around 'and Empire. Prior to that Parker was in numerous performances on stage. Parker has been engaged in politics and is married actor-model Boris Kodjoe. The couple has two kids.
Contractor who was born in Mumbai living in Nigeria from the time she was seven years old. knew a great deal about different cultures around the world and was able to travel in such a short time. She went to boarding school at the age of 7 until 9 in London. Then her family returned in Toronto (Canada) in Canada, where she lived for the rest of her childhood. Contractor was an outstanding scholar in Toronto and was trained as a classical ballet dancer. She studied at the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, a school of the arts which focuses on dance and theater. Contractor began acting at age 16 after completing a total of 10 years of dancing. As soon as she finished high school, she received an all-inclusive scholarship to the University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed an MA in Theatre, and was also a double major in sociology and psychology. Contractor auditioned at the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After one full year, she was awarded the leading role. In 2002, Canadian critics praised her performance in 92 performances of Pericles. She accepted the invitation to enroll in Stratford's conservatory. This is a course that allows only four males and eight females can attend an intensive 20-week course of classical theater. The role was secured for Contractor in the next play as she was offered the part for the role of Hermia A Midsummer Night's Dream.
